The Grand Forks Herald published the following editorial dismissing the argument that the “temporary” construction jobs that pipelines create are not significant enough to justify building the infrastructure:
“Is any construction job truly permanent? Or are all construction jobs reliant upon finding the next project, completing it and moving on? It’s probably more the latter than the former.
So, thousands of workers likely will build these pipelines, but only hundreds – maybe only dozens – will remain to oversee the finished product. To us, those are still jobs.”
